Herringbone, Rhodes & Beckett the latest fashion retailers to enter administration

The Australian Retailers Association has warned increased competition, the high cost of rents and weekend penalty rates have contend a dominant role in the collapse of many distinguished fashion brands.

Upmarket labels textile and Rhodes & writer ar the latest to succumb, with Cor Cordis appointed as voluntary administrators.

Last week, fashion retailers Marcs and David Lawrence were placed into voluntary administration while a customer is wanted for those firms.

Herringbone and Rhodes & writer, which ar headquartered in Melbourne, are majority in hand and provided by German luxury attire maker van Laack.

The two brands presently trade out of twenty nine stores with a complete of a hundred and forty workers in Australia.

Bruno Secatore of Cor Cordis said the parent company is burdened by debt and has been making an attempt for months to sell the fashion labels.

"Early indications ar that there are a variety of underperforming stores across the textile and Rhodes & writer brands," he said.

"We understand from van Laack that their call to appoint associate degree administrator was taken once the business suffered monetary difficulties arising from unsustainably high overheads, some unfavourable store leases, and other residual gift problems, and we ar conducting our own analysis to work out the extent of those problems."

Retail industry 'needs to take a really shut cross-check itself'

Australian Retailers Association's executive director Russell Zimmerman aforementioned the trade is buckling below the load of variety of challenges.

"What we do not hear regarding is that the little mum-and-dad freelance retailers that ar in bother," he said.

"So there ar some issues with the trade and I assume the trade must take a really shut cross-check itself and perceive wherever the issues are and positively a number of these would like addressing."
